"Great photographs! You are to be commended, and your guides to great places in Wisconsin are fun to read and good directives.
One of my favorite dining spots in Wisconsin is Lakewoods Resort, owned and operated by good friends, the Phillip Rasmussen family. Ask for a table by the window and get fantastic views of Lake Namakagon, and eat some of the best walleye you've ever had. Tell Phil Mike sent you!"

"I can't believe your notables missed the greatest perch fry of all times!!! Wendt's Bar and Harbor in Van Dyne, located on Rt 45 between Fond du Lac and Oshkosh.
A perch fry like nothing else I guarantee! All the traditional trimmings. Cynthia Wendt's recipe of years past and presently operated by her daughter-in-law Linda, a gracious host as well.
The uniformed staff is fast, friendly and courteous. While the menus offers a variety, who cares: THE PERCH IS THE REASON TO GO.
The overflow in the warmer months is cause for a huge dining out of doors. Cold beer and great old fashions.
If you are within 50 miles of this place-- GO-GO, they serve perch all week."

"There is nothing more pleasurable than an afternoon stroll through downtown Cedarburg. The beautifully preserved Cedar Creek Winery and Stage Coach Bed and Breakfast provide a glimpse into the traditional architecture years ago. The true treasure lies in the bike trail that connects Grafton to Mequon, winding along the river in Cedarburg. It is the most serene experience.
And do not forget about the numerous festivals held in the downtown area including my favorite - the Harvest Festival. The city's main street is closed as vendors flood the street offering food, beverages, and handmade crafts. The setting could not be any more picturesque as the fall colors are at their peak in the city."

"I enjoyed reading the article about Wisconsin Fish Fries (April 2009). Your article however did not list any good spots in southeast Wisconsin. I would like to recommend our favorite spots in Kenosha County.
The Twin Lakes Country Club in Twin Lakes is packed with fish fry fans every Friday night. Get there early or expect an hour wait or more at the bar. Another favorite is the Colony House in Trevor. An old stage coach stop in the 1800s. Call for reservations if you plan on enjoying the tasty fish. Bon Appetit!"

"I enjoy the fish fry at O'Bryon's Village Inn in Cornucopia. The fish is fresh (lake trout, whitefish, herring in season) and prepared in a variety of ways. The coleslaw is the best, the fresh rye rolls are delicious, and the fish chowder is a must. Don't forget the potatoes of your choice, but I would recommend the parsley-buttered baby reds. If you have room after your meal, you can splurge with a tasty dessert. The atmosphere is quaint in this rustic little fishing village and you will be taken well care of at the Village Inn. This is the best fish fry offered in northern Wisconsin."

"Your April issue was a breath of fresh air. I am so glad your stories in that one go outside of the Madison area--there are so many wonderful things throughout the state and you nailed some of them. I really enjoyed the gardens and the harbor towns. What I am actually writing to recommend is a wonderful fish fry at a place you don't usually associate with the Friday night tradition---The Fireside in Fort Atkinson. It is outstanding--and available on its own--no show attendance required. Of course, the shows never disappoint either! The Fireside got the idea of customer service long before it had a name."

"Our wild flowers, trees and animals. We have so many interesting varieties of butterflies, birds and reptiles. We love our deer but sometimes forget about the little creatures that keep our eco-system going."
