Indulge your taste buds

If death by chocolate is possible, Burlington might need to build a new cemetery. The southeastern Wisconsin town will be holding ChocolateFest, a four-day celebration of the sweet treat. A variety of tasty and entertaining events will take over the town May 22-25.

Indulge with a series of chocolate tasting events and chocolate chef demonstrations. When your taste buds are ready for a break, Project Yum-Way gives five-person teams 30 minutes to design a wearable fashion using candy bar wrappers. If you're feeling competitive, there's no shortage of chocolate eating contests.

A fireworks show at dusk on Friday helps kick-off the event. Continue the night at the Dude and Diva contest, pitting your chocolate trivia against other competitors. Put together a team for the chocolate geocache, competing for the best time. The Main Stage features over 10 musical acts, plus an illusionist and hypnotist.

Burlington's designation as "Chocolate City USA" stems from the town's Nestle manufacturing plant, which creates a variety of popular chocolate products. In operation since 1965, the plant provides stability as well as sweets, employing about 500 people.

In The Taps Tradition

Taps are a somber Memorial Day tradition. The mournful tune is used to commemorate fallen soldiers and is a mainstay at Memorial Day ceremonies. But if taps are mentioned this Memorial Day weekend in Kohler, they're probably not referring to trumpets.

From May 22-24 the town will be hosting the first ever Kohler Festival of Beer. Featuring over 30 local and regional brewers, the weekend is hopping with events. Highlights include an Eggs and Kegs breakfast buffet, Cheers to Beers grand tasting, Pub Pairings seminar, Blackwolf Run Beer Cup golf tournament, Homebrewers' Competition, and a Blues, Brews, and BBQ party.

Hotel Packages are available through the Kohler Chamber of Commerce. There are both ticketed and non-ticketed events.

Reserve your spot at destinationkohler.com or call 800.344.2838.
