Farmers’ markets have become a staple in towns big and small across the state during the summer. But while Wisconsin is a bountiful producer of fresh produce in the summer, the cold, snowy months make it much more difficult to find good greens and fruits outside of imported food at supermarkets. Despite the fact that most markets shut down when the mercury dips, a few throughout Wisconsin do head indoors and stay open year-round, providing producers with another source of income during traditionally slow months and buyers with fresh, local products and the opportunity to support area farmers.
